Ben Cohen is the Latest to be Eliminated on BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing', Cohen Voted as One of Top 3 Inspiring Celebrities by The Co-operative’s ‘Loved by You’ Awards
Former England rugby union player Ben Cohen is the latest to be eliminated in the eleventh series of BBC One's celebrity dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing. Cohen had been exerting a lot of efforts with his dance partner Kristina Rihanoff week after week, but he found himself battling it out at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Cohen and Rihanoff were placed in a do-or-die dance-off against Mark Benton and Iveta Lukosuite. Judge Craig Revel Horwood favoured to save Cohen and his partner. However, the other two judges, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell, chose Benton.
"It has been a great experience," said Cohen when asked how he felt after being let go. "Kristina has been great," he added.
Cohen also mentioned how different dancing is from playing rugby. "I found it a lot easier playing in the finals of World Cup than dancing for Strictly," said Cohen.
Rihanoff also praised Cohen's performances on the dance competition show. "If there was an award for the most improved person, it would go to Ben," she said. "Ben started at nothing and he has improved every week," she added. "I am so proud of you," said Rihanoff.
His elimination was good riddance for the rugby athlete.
"Back to the gym this morning as I am not throwing Kristina Rihanoff around anymore," Cohen wrote on Twitter. "But, it won't be long till the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour," he added. Well, he may have sbeen eliminated now but by the looks of it and based on the message he posted on Twitter, we might still see him dance for the live tour of the said dance contest.
Cohen was among the top three inspiring celebrities of The Co-operative's Loved by You Awards, as voted by the people.
