Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter's bundle of joy gets a name
British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter have reportedly named their newborn son -- Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch. The middle name of the two-month-old baby is in keeping with the family's middle name.
The baby’s name holds special significance as Cumberbatch played Christopher Tietjens in Sir Tom Stoppard's television adaptation of “Parade’s End ," Hello reported. The couple, however, have not yet confirmed the news.
Cumberbatch and Hunter welcomed their first child in June, and it is via their representative that they announced the news. Since then, the private couple have kept details about their son under wraps.
After the birth of their newborn, the statement released by the “Sherlock” star and his wife said that they were “delighted” on the birth of their son but wanted “privacy” in the days to come. And days after the birth of his son, Cumberbatch was named a CBE during Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honours.
Earlier this year, the 39-year-old actor and his theatre director sweetheart married at a romantic ceremony on Valentine’s Day. The couple recently attended the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in Kensington Gardens, and “The Imitation Game” actor could not keep his eyes off his wife, who looked ravishing.
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch has received rave reviews for his version of Hamlet. The actor is playing “Hamlet” for a theatre production that is currently running at Barbican Theatre in London. The play which opened Aug. 06 will continue to run till Oct. 31.
Cumberbatch is set to join the set of "Sherlock" next year in spring to film Season 4.
