Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic failed to advanced into the next round of the 2013 ATP Aegon Championship after succumbing to Germany's Benjamin Becker 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-7 Tuesday at the Queen's Club in London, England.

Tomic, 63rd in the latest ATP world rankings, battled three hardly-contested sets but the young Aussie netter just came up short in pulling off a victory against Becker.

The 20-year-old Tomic said the hamstring injury that forced him to retire during the first round of the French Open continued to bother his movement up to this point.

The Australian is still in search for his second career singles title after winning his breakthrough championship at the Apia International Sydney in January.

However, the biggest surprise during Tuesday's match was the presence of Tomic's father and coach, John, on courtside. John Tomic's credential was suspended by the ATP following an assault charge filed by Bernard's hitting partner during the Madrid Masters in May.

"I didn't see him, to be honest," Bernard said after losing 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-4) to German Benjamin Becker in front of his father and coach.

"I didn't look at anything. I wasn't looking anywhere. Funny you spotted him and I didn't. Well, that's interesting," said Tomic after the game, according to the Brisbane Times.

Tomic is currently in the warm-up stage of his preparation for the upcoming Wimbledon Open Championships at All-England Tennis Club.
