The red carpet arrivals at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards proved to be a celebration of not only the best of the entertainment industry, but of fashion as well.

Stars shone on the Beverly Hilton's red carpet as they got photographed wearing some of the best

Claire Danes looked glamorous in a black and white backless J. Mendell gown from his pre-fall collection. Danes paired the sleek number with a upswept hair and full red lips and constantly looked over her shoulder to maximize the gown's effect.

TV personality and reality star Kelly Osbourne wore a royal blue structured gown from Zac Posen's pre-fall collection that she paired with a sparkly Judith Lieber clutch and jewelry from Vhernier. She was already being hailed as one of the best dressed stars in this year's red carpet affair.

Actress Julianna Marguilies covered up in a purple long-sleeved number by Naeem Khan, while nominee Janet McTeer arrived in a three-fourth sleeved ruched gown in dark blue.

Nicoke Richie, looked stunning in a silver Julien MacDonald halter-neck gown that brought out her green eyes and natural beauty. Singer and former "American Idol" contestant Katharine McPhee went for a simple ankle-length strapless Donna Karan nude chiffon and tulle silver-leaf embroidered gown.

Actress Piper Perabo looked like a princess in a Theyskens Theory ball gown, while actress and TV presenter Maria Menunous looked summer-lovely in a sparkling yellow number.

As for the men, 'Glee' star Chris Colfer stayed true to his fashionable character by wearing a sleek tuxedo with a slim tie, while the show's host, Ricky Gervais, stunned onlookers with a maroon and black suit.

But the one who truly stole the show was Angelina Jolie, who looked immaculate in a red and white "prom style" gown. Long-time partner and A-list actor, Brad Pitt arrived with his lady love on his arm.

Other stars who shone on the red carpet were Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara and the Deschanel (Zooey and Emily) sisters.
