Best Friends From Plymouth Die Of Drug Overdose After Mistaking White Heroine For Cocaine
Two best friends from the UK reportedly died of a drug overdose after they consumed white heroine, mistaking it for cocaine. The boys, Shaun Brotherston and Bradley Price, were in Amsterdam to celebrate Brotherstone's birthday.
The pals were found unconscious in their hotel room in Amsterdam by the housekeeping staff, just next to a tray covered in white powder-like substance and several bottles of alcohol.
Dutch police was immediately informed about the unresponsive boys found in the hotel room by the staff at the Apollo Museum Hotel in Amsterdam. An inquest by the police into the scene revealed that Brotherston and Price were found in a non-responsive state, with one lying on the bed with blood dripping through his nose and the other fallen down on a desk in the hotel room.
Toxicological analysis showed that the blood and urine samples of the deceased had traces of opiates and pointed out to the conclusion that the duo has bought white heroine, mistakenly regarding it as cocaine. Following the investigation, the Coroner for Devon and Plymouth, Ian Arrow attributed the cause of death to accidental drug overdose, reported news.com.au.
The incident has triggered the need of creating awareness by the Dutch authorities about the plausible side-effects of consuming white heroine. "I would like to comment on the hard work done by the Dutch authorities in this matter, and hope that they have prevented further deaths, so that some good thing can come from these deaths," said Arrow, in his recording about the cause of death.
The 21-year-old Brotherston and 20-year-old Price, from Devon, studied together at Tamarside Community College in the past and were enrolled with the Marine Academy in Plymouth.
