The final face-off before the actual bout between Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez happened on Wednesday afternoon, and both fighters were raring to go at each other’s throats days before the classic clash set on Saturday, Sept 14, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight dubbed as “The One” will put Mayweather’s WBA Super Welterweight title at stake, while Alvarez risks his WBC, WBA and The Ring Superwelterweight belts. Both fighters hold immaculate records in their respective careers; Mayweather is 44-0-0 with 26 knockouts, while Alvarez is 42-0-1 with 30 fights not going the distance.

Expectedly, some trash talking from both sides was witnessed. Here are some of those words of wisdom from the final press conference of “The One”.

Floyd Mayweather quotes:

“I’ve been here before so I know what it takes. He’s 42-0, but he hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweathers because he’d be 0-42. I’m at the pinnacle. I’m the face of boxing and I’m dedicated to my craft.

“You have to be able to out match me mentally, and I’m the strongest mental fighter in the sport of boxing.”

“September 14 is just another stepping stone, another opponent to me. But he knows he’s facing Floyd Mayweather; I’m facing just another opponent.”

Saul Alvarez quotes:

“I don’t care about his record. I’m not coming to make a good fight, I’m coming to win.”

“You’ll see how I do it. You’ll see how I beat him. I’m calm and I’m just ready to fight.”

“I’m ready for the best Floyd possible. He can change his game plan and I will be ready. “

“There’s no pressure whatsoever. It’s motivating to have all of Mexico rooting for me.”

Meanwhile, in the undercard bouts, WBC, WBA and Ring Super Light champion Danny Garcia will face WBC Interim Super Light champ Lucas Matthysse in a scheduled 12-rounder; Ishe Smith takes on Carlos Molina in another 12-rounder; and Pablo Cesar Cano vs. Ashley Theophane in a 10-rounder.
