An star was born in the 2014 Wimbledon Championships after Australian Nick Kyrgios defeated World No. 1 Rafael Nadal of Spain in the Round of 16 in four sets, 7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

As expected, like in any huge upset in any sport, fans took to Twitter to share their reaction and admiration for the unheralded player who qualified in Wimby via the wildcard.

Amazing win by Krygios! Such fight, and could show Tomic a thing or two about professionalism. Well done sir! — Edward Rosier (@edrosier) July 1, 2014

A few others chimed in with this guy regretting that he watched the Argentina vs. Switzerland match in Brazil rather than the shocker in London:

Disappointed I wayched the football rather than the tennis. Stunning #Krygios

— Adam Pothecary (@naddogg5) July 1, 2014

And more others admitting that for about two hours, tennis is better than soccer:

The nadal match is 10 times more exciting than the argentina game. Nick Krygios is a machine — Ryan Monks (@Ryan_Monksy) July 1, 2014

Oh I Say #Krygios #Wimbledon This is FAR more exciting than the footie : )

Before Kyrgios clinched the victory over Nadal, the player ranked 144th in the world would attempt (and make) an uber-confident between-the-legs shot that shocked Nadal (and excited the world):

Nick Krygios future star? Either way he just embarrassed the World Number 1 #wellplayed #Wimbledon2014 — Samuel Aherne (@Samuwellaa) July 1, 2014

That shot from Krygios was insane 19 years old and pulling that out against Nadal!! #DifferentGravy

With the victory over Nadal, Kyrgios advanced to the quarterfinals where he’ll meet Milos Raonic of Canada. How far will the 19-year-old Aussie go in the 2014 Wimbledon Championships?
