Betty White Rides The Wrecking Ball, Mocks Miley Cyrus
Perhaps, the legend Betty White sang, "Miley, I will smash you with my wreckingggg ballll!" But she didn't. Ah! Wishful thinking.
"Golden Girl" has shot a spoof of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" video for her upcoming television show "Off Their Rockers."
The 91-year-old actress, joyfully, rides the wrecking ball and the promo is absolutely kids-friendly. Moreover, it does not have twerk moves that Miley Cyrus is famous for.
The 30-second-TV ad starts with White telling the audience that she was asked to give a few ideas on how to promote the Lifetime premiere of the series.
"I got some ideas from recent pop culture events that really got the kids talking," White says. And next, we see White smashing the wall while riding the wrecking ball just like Miley Cyrus. The only difference is White is in white and not stark naked like the "Hannah Montana" murderer.
Wait, she also waves the foam finger, yes, the infamous foam finger from Miley's VMA award performance. Next up is the sledgehammer. White asks, "Can someone bring me a sledgehammer?" Then she comes with the hammer and but instead of sticking her tongue out and putting it to use, White gives the hammer a motherly kiss. Aw!
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Miley Cyrus revealed that the sledgehammer was heavy. "That sledgehammer was heavy as shit, though. My arms were so sore the next day. And they didn't tell me it was painted, so I was licking it, and they were like, 'Don't lick that!"
In the ad, Betty White carries the hammer quite easily. "Off Their Rockers" attracted an average of 5.3 million viewers when it was telecasted on NBC. Later, NBC discontinued the show. Now, Lifetime is back with "Off Their Rockers" beginning this Wednesday. Betty White is the only surviving cast member of the hit show, "The Golden Girls."
