Beyonce and Jay Z’s Upcoming Joint Tour can Prove to be a Great Move
Finally, Beyonce and Jay Z are set to tour 16 North American cities starting this Wednesday. This is going to be the couple's first joint tour. With speculations on the internet that Beyonce and Jay Z are having marital issues, this tour can be a relief for them.
Also, both the artists have rocked the charts in last two years. Reports suggest Jay Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" sold 2.2 million copies while Beyonce's self-titled album sold 2 million copies.
They also released a duet titled "Drunk in Love" which ranked at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100.
"People are definitely infatuated with them as a power couple, first and foremost," said Chuck Creekmur, CEO, AllHipHop.com to USA Today.
"A lot of people look at them as a royal family of sorts and idealize them in a lot of ways to represent true love and a fairy tale coming true."
Meanwhile, reports came that the ticket sale of the tour is not doing well and the infamous lift incident between Beyonce's sister Solange and Jay Z to blame for the same. However, Live Nation rubbished such reports as it told Billboard that already $86 million earned from the tickets.
Yahoo Music senior editor, Billy Johnson Jr. noted that low ticket sales will be viewed with a negative eye, but Beyonce and Jay Z played it safe.
It might be the pair's "soft run to see how it goes, and then gauge what their next steps will be. It's strategic and smart."
Vulture senior editor Amanda Dobbins stated it is difficult for any artist apart from Beyonce who can compel the fans to spend $16 or more on music albums.
"It takes a huge amount of celebrity and success to pull that off," Amanda (via USA Today).
Chuck mentioned that Beyonce and Jay Z always set the bar high.
"Even with streaming and pirated music more prevalent than ever, they've still been able to move units, keep people excited about their music and keep that megastar status."
Fans and industry experts will have to wait and watch how this upcoming Beyonce and Jay Z joint tour will help the couple.
