With her husbad Jay-Z on top of the richest rappers in Forbes list, Beyonce Knowles is busy with her own charity work. After all, the singer is one of the top earners in the music industry for this year. Forbes has recently ranked her 3rd on the list with $87 million. Beyonce beat her 'Telephone' collaborator Lady Gaga by $25 million.

This year's September issue of 'Self' features Beyonce on its cover. In her interview with the magazine, the Grammy-winner talks about her charity work. Asked why she does charity, Beyonce said, 'I have always felt that you should give because it's what you can do to help.'

But the star does not want to bask on philanthropy work. 'You don't do it to get praised. For a long time, being quiet about what I did was a conscious decision,' Beyonce said, 'When you look around at all that's wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear.'

Knowles also talks about how anyone can make a difference. "Think about what truly touches you and motivates you to help, then start locally. ' 'Once it's in your heart to give, you'll have to follow through. I am a happy woman-very happy-because I know that I've worked hard, and I love being able to give back,' the singer said.
