Beyonce’s talent fee from Kadhafi has been donated to Haiti, says rep
Grammy winning singer, Beyonce has maintained that performance fee received from Kadhafi contributed to relief efforts in Haiti
The representative for singer and songwriter, Beyonce Knowles has announced recently that the performance fee the singer received from the Kadhafi clan has been donated to relief efforts for Haiti. Beyonce performed at the Carribean Islands of St. in December 2009 as part of New Years celebration.
"All monies paid to Beyonce for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009 ...were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago," Noel-Schure was quoted as saying byt the Agence France Presse.
Beyonce’s represetantive, Yvette Noel-Schure made the announcement amid increasing reports of the involvement on war crimes of the Khadafis. It also came three days after Canadian singer, Nely Furdato announced that she is planning on donating the fee received from the Libyan leader’s clan.
Beyonce’s spokesman maintained that the singer decided to give the money away the minute they found out that it was sourced from an event with a connection that a Khadafi clan member can be traced from it.
"Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the (Kadhafi) family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause," she said, noted AFP, adding that the they included in the donation money the payments for booking agency.
Beyonce’s name came out in a New York Post article reporting on her five-song performance at the Carribean dressed in a sexy leotard.
The Post however did not provide detail of the exact. Beyonce was joined then by husband Jay-Z and troubled actress, Lindsay Lohan.
Other stars named by the Post to receive from Khadafi included Usher, Mariah Carey and Lionel Ritchie.
