The Bible-Obama-actor-playing-Satan connection has been vehemently denied by History Channel miniseries producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, saying the actor who plays Satan has played other evil characters in the past.

The Bible-Obama link to Satan or the devil was raised to public attention by right-wing commentator and radio-host Glenn Beck, who tweeted: "Anyone else think the Devil in #TheBible Sunday on History Channel looks exactly like That Guy?"

CNN picked up Beck's comment, with Erin Burnett claiming Beck has an "ugly history" of linking President Obama to Satan. "Absolutely not," Beck said in reaction to the commentary.

"This is utter nonsense," Co-producer Mark Burnett said in a statement regarding the hyped connection. "The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics- including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President," he noted.

"Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian," Burnett's wife and co-producer Roma Downey added. The History Channel also issued a statement.

"History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection," the channel said.

Viewers will recall that another American leader was associated to an epic series character in HBO. "Game of Thrones" producers had to fix a scene in which a decapitated head looked a lot like former president George W. Bush.

"We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk," explained show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said.

HBO then called the Bush "accident" "unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste." In a statement to MailOnline, HBO said, "We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production."

Seeing how the The Bible-Obama observation has gone viral, Beck later tweeted: "Media - relax. Actor has been in similar roles b4. Funny, nothing more. For different reasons, #TheBible is 1 of my fav shows. Keep watching."
