"The Big Bang Theory" has not only welcomed world-renowned scientists into its set, the sitcom has now made an official buzzing contribution to the giant book of science terminologies. True story.

Thanks to Dr Sheldon Cooper, the quirky obsessive physicist genius brilliantly played by Jim Parsons, a species of bee has earned an appropriate name.

Cooper says "Bazinga!" as a catch phrase he associates to sneaky little jokes (most of which only he can appreciate). One of the closest transliterations would be "Gotcha!"

In December 2012, "bazinga" has taken on a new meaning in a more elite set of vocabulary -- that which is used by the science community. The New York Daily News reported Brazilian biologist Andre Nemesio has named a species of Brazilian orchid bee 'Euglossa bazinga' as homage to Cooper and the CBS sitcom. He published his work in Zootaxa, a journal read by zoological taxonomists worldwide. "Bazinga" and Cooper have been immortalized by Nemesio.

Nemesio admitted to Daily News he was inspired by "the clever, funny, 'nerd' character Sheldon Cooper." Apparently, the recently named bee species has confused scientists over its similarities with other bee species. It turns out it is a unique species all together, and now it's got a proper name.

'Big Bang Theory' show runner Steven Molaro said everyone behind the sitcom was "always extremely flattered when the science community embraces our show."

"Sheldon would be honored to know that Euglossa bazinga was inspired by him. In fact, after 'Mothra' and griffins, bees are his third-favorite flying creatures," he added.

Sheldon has given Parsons two Emmy awards as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The next time TBBT fans hear 'Euglossa bazinga,' fond memories of Dr Sheldon Cooper would come to mind. And everyone would wish they have a friend like Sheldon Cooper. Bazinga!
