‘The Big Bang Theory’ Mayim Bialik tweet sends fans into panic mode
Actress Mayim Bialik scared the fans of "The Big Bang Theory" after she shared a cast photo with a cryptic caption. Many thought it was the end of the Emmy-winning comedy.
Bialik (Amy) took to social media on Tuesday night to share the photo. She wrote on the caption that a decade of the series has now passed, allowing fans to think that season 10 would be the last for the show.
Quickly, fans retweeted Bialik’s post with memes and upset reactions. Some fans later admitted that they misunderstood Bialik’s message. Apparently, the actress was referring to the last shooting day for season 10, hence she wrote, “A decade of big bang ended tonight."
Panic mode is now over. TBBT fans can now relax. Although the actress did not respond to the comments, avid fans know that TBBT was renewed for two more seasons last month. This means viewers will be seeing the Caltech geniuses and the rest of the gang until 2019.
Moreover, Bialik is not the only cast member who shared the same photo on social media. The 41-year-old actress has the most intriguing caption. Kaley Cuoco (Penny) posted on Instagram the same picture and wrote, “That's a wrap on season 10 @bigbangtheory_cbs !!! humbled, grateful , happy, thankful, emotional, and excited are just a few words to describe how I feel right now... oh and I love this group of people see you next season!!! 'Our whole universe was in a hot dense state....' you know the rest.”
Production of TBBT season 10 began last year without new contracts for the actors. All cast members’ contracts are set to expire when the current season ends next month.
Bialik and co-star Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) haven’t sign a new contract yet. They are still negotiating for a salary bump, seeking an increase from the $175,000 (AU$234,0000) per episode they negotiated three years ago. Bialik and Rauch are expected to get more than $400,000 (AU$535,000) per episode once they sign new contracts.
Original cast members Cuoco, Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Simon Helberg (Howard) have already signed new contracts. Under such, Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco agreed to a salary cut. From $1 million (AU$1.3 million) per episode, the trio is now down to $900,000 (AU$1.3 million) each. Helberg and Nayyar, on the other hand, will also pocket the same salary.
“The Big Bang Theory” season 10 airs every Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS. It also airs in Channel Nine in Australia.
