‘Big Brother Australia’ 2013 winner Tim Dormer says Nine fired him after admitting he hated the show
Tim on Big Brother Canada: BBAU hates me

“Big Brother Australia” season 10 winner Tim Dormer basically killed his career at the Nine Network. The energetic reality show star admitted on the Canadian version of the show that he messed up when he spoke ill of the network that made him famous.
Tim is currently inside the “Big Brother Canada” house, where he was asked to participate as one of the two international house guests (the other being Nikki Grahame from “Big Brother UK”).
He told Nikki about being asked by the Australian show’s producers to return briefly for the 2014 season because, according to Tim, the producers were trying to save the show’s dismal ratings and uninteresting housemates.
“They didn’t cast anyone like me,” he said, adding the producers called him because people didn’t watch the show without someone like him in it.
He was on the show for one day to successfully convince housemate David Hodis to shave off his beard, a move, Tim admitted, he carried out because Nine told him to. When he left the house, he was surprised to see an email from a viewer, who basically called him a sellout for following the network’s instructions.
“During the day on this Big Brother forum, a fan had written an email to me and said, ‘You are not who you were the first time around. You were obviously just following directions, you’re in the back pocket of the network and Big Brother’s s--- this year, we were hoping you were going to fix it,’” he said, admitting that what the viewer said about him was true.
“I was just following directions and I made it happen, but it made me question it, like I’d become part of the outside wall,” Tim told the British guest. “I felt so dirty.”
Tim posted a long email to the disgruntled fan, joining the mudslinging against the network. “I wrote back this really long email saying, ‘I’m in no one’s back pocket. I hate the show. ... It’s f-----. It will be cancelled. All they care about is appeasing to the brands and not the viewers. You’re 100 percent right.”
Unbeknownst to Tim, the fan took a screenshot of his email and shared it online just as he was about to join BBAU host Sonia Kruger for the live eviction episode. His interview with Sonia went well, but half an hour later backstage, there was a knock on the dressing room door.
“They’re holding a printout of the email and they’re like, ‘Did you write this? This is really serious.’ And I went, ‘I’m not gonna lie. I did. The show is s---.’ Then they got the network person who looked after the show and she said, ‘You totally f----- your career. We will never work with you again. You cannot bite the hand that feeds you.’”
BBAU might be angry at Tim, but apparently, the Nine Network wasn’t. Fast forward to 2015, he was cast in the fourth season of “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia” in the same channel. He even almost won the title, only losing to actress/singer Sophie Monk during the final stage.
