“Big Brother Australia” evictee Gemma Kinghorn knows she was being disagreeable in the house, but that’s exactly what she planned to be. The fiery redhead has admitted she was “being a bit of a b---- on purpose.”

Gemma, 29, caused quite a stir among her fellow housemates during her short time in the famous house. She has made unsavoury remarks about some housemates, basically calling them eye candies without substance.

Upon learning that there would only be one member of a pair who would go home on eviction night, Gemma turned the attention on her by fake-crying, admitting to reigning BB champ Tim Dormer that she only wanted the housemates to talk about her.

Her strategy confused a lot of viewers, though, and it didn’t seem to work anyway as her housemates chose to save her partner Jake from eviction over her.

In an interview with the Daily Mail Australia, the 6’6” nurse from Perth revealed that she knew she had been annoying some housemates and even the viewers, but it’s all part of her strategy.

“I was being a b---- on purpose,” she said. “I was doing it to get attention and it worked.”

She further explained, “I didn’t ever forget about the cameras because my whole plan was to be noticed all the time and be in the storyline. Any publicity was good publicity as far as I was concerned so I was constantly searching out opportunities to be on them (the cameras).”

Gemma, who suffers from Marfan’s syndrome, gets noticed all the time because of her very tall appearance. However, it’s a different situation for her in “Big Brother,” and therefore she needed to exert extra effort to stand out.

“I’ve been a viewer for a long time so I wanted to do what I wanted to watch my favourite moments in Big Brother are conflicts. I don’t think anyone was playing as hard as me... I was there to win, I was playing what I thought was the long game.”

Although she was the first housemate to be evicted for the season, Gemma has no regrets over how she played the game in the house.

“I’m proud of the way I stood up for myself and confronted the other housemates because I would never have done that in school.”

Meanwhile, viewers of the show have expressed their outrage over Gemma’s treatment during elimination night. After the housemates were informed that Gemma & Jake received the lowest number of public votes, and were therefore up for eviction, Big Brother told them that they should literally stand behind either Jake or Gemma to show who between the two they wanted to stay in the house. Most housemates stood behind Jake, and only Priya stood behind Gemma to show her support.

Viewers claimed that the show has promoted bullying by how it staged the elimination process. Although most expected that Gemma would be the first to go, they were still aghast with how BB made the process cruel for undignified for the exiting housemate.

#BBAU9 2014 promotes and nurtures bullying! Gemma's eviction was disgraceful.@BBAU9 - we grew out of schoolyard taunts years ago. Stop it.
