“Big Brother Australia” latest evictee Lawson Reeves’s girlfriend doesn’t want to speak to him after he cheated on her on television. The Mandurah magic man, who infamously started an affair with fellow housemate Cat in the house, tried to grovel for Candice Leeder’s apology.

A day after leaving the reality TV house, the 23-year-old electrical apprentice was bombarded with questions about her relationship with his perhaps now-ex-girlfriend and the other woman he left inside the house. The season’s most talked-about story is no doubt Lawson and Cat’s affair on air, which they started after spending a night in the secluded sanctuary.

But while he himself has admitted to their fellow housemates that he was basically cheating on Candice, he denied that Cat is now his girlfriend. He told Daily Mail Australia that just because he and the 31-year-old divorcee were “labelled as a couple in the house,” doesn’t mean that they are already in a relationship.

“We were labelled as a couple in the house just like the other couples that’s because we are two people that spent a lot of time together in the house, so what else would they have to call us?” he said. “I don’t think [a relationship with Cat] is a possible thing at the moment with everything that is going on. When Cat gets out then we will have conversations and see where we are at and where we want to go.”

On Monday’s episode, Cat admitted to a few of the housemates that she and Lawson already planned on vacationing in Bali, Indonesia after they leave the house to get away from the commotion that would surely follow them. Lawson repeated the same to host Sonia Kruger when he was interviewed right after his eviction. So although they are not in relationship, as Lawson has put it, they are perhaps heading that way.

A relationship is one thing, marriage is another. Lawson said that their eight-year age gap is an issue for him, and he is too young to even think about exchanging vows with the older woman.

As for Candice, who reportedly shut down all her social media accounts after Lawson and Cat got frisky with each other in the sanctuary, Lawson admitted that he tried to contact her but failed.

“Very understandably she does not wish to speak to me. That’s completely understandable, she may never want to speak to me,” he said, adding that he wants to grovel for her forgiveness. “When she does or when she feels like she does, I’m ready to have that conversation with her.”

He added, “The only thing I can say to her is I’m sorry. She’s already watched so there is nothing for me to explain. It’s more what she is going to say to me.”

While his non-relationship with Cat was blossoming inside the house, some of his defenders claimed on social media that his relationship with Candice was as good as gone when the girlfriend apparently cheated on him. That’s why they were on the rocks a week before he went inside the famous house, and only got back together a day before lockdown. However, Lawson, who said he has also been cheated on in the past, denied that Candice had cheated on him, saying it was “just a rumour!”

As he explained on his first post-house interview with Channel 9, there were often times when he and Candice decided they weren’t the best for each other, but always came back together. When he was about to enter the house, “we ran out of time to discuss and sort out our problems. In the last week [before Lockdown] we just decided to make things good between us and resolve it once I got out.”

But with what has happened inside the house, it’s apparent that they would never resolve their relationship anymore.

On Tuesday night, there’s a 50/50 chance that Cat would join him in the eviction. There will be two evictees later, and with Cat just among the four housemates still in the chopping block, there’s a fair chance that she would be evicted as well. Leo, Aisha and Travis are also nominated.
