Leo the first intruder has left “Big Brother Australia” on Monday. The 30-year-old Canadian was sent packing days after having his biggest fight with Skye in the house.

Leo entered the house on Day 24 as an intruder. He appeared to be another Dion, the evicted housemate who was into fitness and wellness, but he quickly latched onto a relationship with Skye. Like Dion, he annoyed some housemates with his fitness talk and his insatiable appetite, though he also endeared himself to some immediately. The question whether he was real or fake still remains even as he left the house, though.

Skye and Leo

The “pride of Gold Coast” couple have had their biggest and last fight of the season. Skye and Leo almost had a shouting match over a tub of Nutella. Instead of tiptoeing around Skye’s delicate feelings, Leo appeared to have had enough and just dished it out. He basically told Skye to do whatever she wanted while he would also do exactly that. Skye thought that his personality suddenly shifted now that they were on their final week and there’s no nomination anymore.

Skye was correct, though. Leo seemed different. He did not want to please the 20-year-old barista anymore, which wasn’t what Skye was used to. During their past arguments, though he did not exactly backed down, Leo was accommodating and wary of Skye’s feelings. That wasn’t the case anymore. As he said during the Hot Seat game, he has always shown his true colours, and him being a bit different now doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Skye declared their relationship ended during the weekend party. When asked by Skye how he felt about her declaration, Leo almost too happily said that he was fine with it. The unlikely couple was called “the pride of Gold Coast” by a tourist guide who entered the house with a few people when the housemates were on pause. Skye had previously said she wanted to stay away from Leo for a while because she wanted to be an individual in the house, but since then, she and Leo started hanging out with each other again.

There’s one recurring argument in their every fight: “Not everything’s about you.” Both Leo and Skye have been throwing that line to each other every time they fight or have a misunderstanding. It’s as if that defence alone should explain their action to each other.

Lina has perhaps summed up their relationship, saying they both put themselves first and were just using each other. Ryan also said that they used their affection for each other as advantage inside the house, but they wouldn’t have use for it when they leave the house.

Leo’s Eviction

The new honest Leo frankly told host Sonia Kruger that he wasn’t expecting to be evicted. He thought Priya would be sent home that night.

“It was real. Everything the viewers saw of me in the house was real,” Leo insisted, adding that perhaps he oversold himself when he entered the house in a bid to be noticed. “There’s a lot of things about me that don’t add up unless you spend time with me.”

There’s one thing about him that he admitted was fake. His name isn’t Leo. Ryan Burke changed his name because there’s already a Ryan in the house. He chose Leo because a nurse whispered to his mum when he was born that he had the spirit of a lion.

As for his feelings with Skye, Leo/Ryan insisted that it’s still the same, though he also cleared that they never put a label on their relationship. They just “drifted apart in the end.”

When Leo was banished in the sanctuary along with three other housemates, Skye developed a crush on Ryan, the original housemate. It was perhaps the reason why she didn’t vote for Leo to visit the house. And while she admitted about her vote to him, she never told him about her crush on Ryan. Leo just found out on stage when Sonia mentioned it.

No matter, though, Skye would always be valuable to him and his experience in the Big Brother. Leo said that whoever Skye chooses or whatever she does next is not going to change his feelings for her, even if his feelings go towards only the platonic route. He doesn’t want Skye to win anymore, however. He was rooting for her until a couple of days before, saying he now thinks Travis is the worthy winner.

Like the other evicted housemates before him but unlike evicted intruders Tom and Richard, Leo received a $5,000 voucher from Appliances Online.
