Big Brother housemates had the chance on Thursday to say their farewell to Josh Moore following the tragic death of his brother Toby.

Josh decided to quit the reality show to support his family as they grieve their terrible loss.

"Family and friends are first and foremost," Take40.com quoted Josh as saying.

An endearing positive bloke, Josh contained his emotions and told his former housemates to "keep being yourselves."

A flood of emotions engulfed the Big Brother house as the housemates pondered a tragedy so close to home.

How to help a friend grieving death in the family

The housemates have undergone counseling to deal with the heartbreaking news that one of their own had to confront just two nights ago.

Death typically brings to mind the reality of a human being's mortality. In the case of the housemates, their situation prevents them from running to people they love. They, too, are realizing the weight of being away from their family. At the same time, they wish they could support Josh but they couldn't do anything more right now.

Adults will go through an emotional journey until they "accept the reality of the loss," wrote Robin F. Goodman, Ph.D.

"They adjust to the environment in which the person is no longer there," Dr. Goodman added.

The housemates, as well as Josh's fans, are worried for Josh. But he appears to be holding himself together pretty well. The journey ahead of Josh will not be easy, but his Big Brother housemates are hopeful that he would carry on being an optimist despite the tragedy.
