‘Big Brother Australia’ Recap: Cat and Lawson Recreate a ‘Drew and Tully’ Moment Under the Doona [VIDEO]
“Big Brother Australia” might have just repeated a Tully and Drew moment on Sunday. The new Head of House Cat invited her crush Lawson in the sanctuary, and things appeared to have heated up under the doona.
The #Drully Controversy
It can be recalled that Tully and Drew’s relationship in the house became the most talked-about topic of the 2013 series. Tully had a girlfriend outside the house, but had fallen in love with housemate Drew. They were just friendly at first, but had become more intimate as they grew closer.
The turn in their relationship seemed to have happened during the time when they kissed and declared their love for each other under the doona. After the same episode, her then-girlfriend Tahlia Farrant publicly dumped her through Twitter.
Tully and Drew became a couple outside the house, but broke up later.
Cat and Lawson
It seemed that the same thing happened to Cat and Lawson.
Cat invited Lawson to spend the night with her in the sanctuary. As the new Head of House, she could choose any housemate as her guest in the exclusive rooms. Skye had thought Cat was picking her, but it still didn’t surprise anyone when Cat chose Lawson instead.
Lawson, who has a girlfriend outside, is aware of Cat’s feelings for her as she had admitted it to him before. He appeared to be just considerate of her feelings at first, not wanting to outright reject her but not totally encouraging her either. However, their closeness in the sanctuary left little doubt that he reciprocated her feelings. It’s as if he is pulling a “Drully” (that’s Drew and Tully) in the house.
When Cat invited him to sleep in the bed with her, he didn’t hesitate. And when the lights were off, the two went under the duvet. They sounded like they were kissing, and that couldn’t be good for Lawson’s girlfriend.
“My favourite part about tonight is right now,” Cat told the magic man while they were in bed.
They didn’t exchange I Love You’s like Drew and Tully did last year, and it could be nothing, but the kissing sounds that they made while covered in bed were pretty convincing.
The housemates weren’t blind to their closeness. Cat and Lawson were their topic at the bathtub, with Lisa proclaiming that the two must be talking about cheating in the sanctuary. Travis chimed in, saying if he had a girlfriend outside and a female housemate attracted to him would ask him to spend the night with her, he would say no.
Sandra and Sam
Sam has been fully aware that Sandra has a major crush on him. However, apart from the allegedly mixed signals that she was getting from him, Sandra was put firmly in the friendzone when Sam told the housemates during the party that his relationship with Sandra is just platonic.
The question for the housemates was if a man and a woman can just be friends.
“Yes, absolutely we can,” Sam answered. “…even here with Sandra as well. We’ve flirted with the idea of hooking up, but platonicness is something that works with us, and something that we’re sticking with.”
Later on, Sandra confronted Sam about his mention of her name.
“Excuse me, I wasn’t aware that we’ve flirted around the idea of hooking up,” she told the Paralympics gold medallist.
Like Lawson, Sam has a girlfriend outside the house so he was careful not to encourage Sandra’s feelings for him. He might have contradicted that himself when he referred to her as his “first lady” and promised to make her feel like a queen.
Sandra appeared to be resigned with her situation with Sam, though. She even told on Leo about Cat and Lawson’s non-relationship like she wasn’t in the same boat as Cat.
Leo
The intruder has had quite a start in the house. His friendly, approachable demeanour has actually turned off a few housemates, including Sam, Sandra, Aisha and Lisa.
Lisa thought his “American” accent sounded like a salesman pitching on his personality, and therefore that made him untrustworthy in her eyes. Her dislike of him wasn’t lost on Leo, though. The Canadian told his admirer Skye that Lisa wasn’t his biggest fan.
She might not like him, but she did have a “nice” opinion of his package. In the bathroom, Leo showered nude, which would have been just normal, except that he was in the shower with the other boys and Lisa at the same time. Housemates normally keep their swimsuit or underwear on while bathing, but Leo didn’t mind taking it all off. Her view on him mellowed afterwards, however.
He also seemed to have won Sandra over during the party. Sandra was telling him how no guy hits on her, to which Leo said that he would hit on her.
David
The man with the formerly luscious beard was feeling left out. He got the most nomination points for the week, and he believed that all the housemates, save for Skye, didn’t like him.
“I feel so bad that everyone in this house is so mean to you,” the 20-year-old barista cried to David, to which David thanked her for standing up for him.
Later on, David clashed with Lisa again. The two weren’t the best of pals in the house since Lisa overheard David describing her breasts weeks ago. Their hatred for each other intensified during a dip in the bathtub with the other housemates.
“You get away with what you want, Lisa, because you’re Lisa,” David told her. “Well, guess what, that doesn’t fly with me!”
Both cried, but not in front of each other. Lisa turned on the waterworks while she was with Jake, while David was still in the bathtub with the others when he got emotional. Some of the housemates didn’t seem to be anti-David as they let on while they were comforting him.
Lisa and David hugged it out in the end, but as Leo told Big Brother, it’s unlikely that they would be best friends after it. Both were apologetic and willing to give each other a second chance, so that’s a good sign.
On Monday, Big Brother will be evicting a fourth housemate before kicking out another one on Tuesday.
