‘Big Brother’ House Opens For Public, Tickets Available
Channel 5 joins hands with the National Trust to open the "Big Brother" House to the public. Only 500 tickets are going to be available. The ticket charges are £16 for non-members and £12 for members.
Channel 5 decided to open the Big Brother house for guided tours. The house is situated in the Elstree Studios of Hertfordshire. The house will be open for 2 days in September. Ivo Dawnay called the "Big Brother" House as a special place. Like any other special houses in the past, the "Big Brother" House, too, reflects the present time. The London director of the National Trust said that the trust aimed to be associated with special places. Channel 5 has also expressed its excitement to be part of the project.
The globally celebrated TV residence is famous for being the home of well-known celebrities like Ivana Trump, Alex Reid and Vinnie Jones. These celebrities were previously part of "Celebrity Big Brother."
The house is presently used in the ongoing season on Channel 5. The season is expected to reach its finale by the end of this week. The property is going to be open for public tours on Sept. 27 and 28. The National Trust issued a leaflet for its members. According to the leaflet, the living room in the "Big Brother" House is comparable to a medieval great hall, whereas the famous chair in the Dairy Room is comparable to a confessional throne of the Vatican.
Mr Dawney stated that the house is special simply because of the great interest people show for the ones who stay in the house. It also represents the time we are living in, he said. The 2-day guided tour around the house will be similar to other National Trust property tours. A volunteer will greet the visitors who will be able to buy a guidebook that gives more information on the people who have lived in the house.
Mr Dawney has called the "Big Brother" House as the birthplace of reality TV in the UK. The house will be unveiled through a massive opening celebration on Sept. 26. It is possible to get a ticket for the opening night. Any "Big Brother" fan can enter a ballot by emailing the trust to london@nationaltrust.org.uk by Sept. 23. The winning candidate will be allowed to bring six people along with him. Only people aged 18 and above can apply for the same. The winner will be selected through a random lottery and informed on Sept. 24.
