Big Day Out 2014 Releases Timetable; Ticketholders Fuming Over Schedule Clashes

Big Day Out festival-goers have been given a difficult decision which act to watch at the festival. The travelling annual music festival has released its timetables, and fans aren’t happy that they would have to choose between watching Pearl Jam and Snoop Lion (a.k.a. Snoop Dogg).

The timetables for all five cities – Adelaide, Auckland, Goldcoast, Melbourne, and Sydney – are closely similar, showing schedule clashes for headliners Pearl Jam, Snoop Lion, and Deftones. The stage schedules for Ghost, Flume, Major Lazer, and Steve Angello also clash with the three aforementioned acts.

The performers are given different stages, and according to the maps BDO also released, the stages are far apart from one another, thus making it difficult for fans to hop from one stage to another just to watch all acts at the same time.

The clashes are contrary to what the organisers have promised back in August. BDO tweeted that the key acts, Major Lazer, Snopp Lion, Blur, Pearl Jam, and Arcade Fire wouldn’t have any major scheduling conflicts. Blur has since pulled out of the festival and was replaced by Deftones, The Hives, and Beady Eye, but the schedule still present conflict for the ticketholders.

As expected, the patrons are livid that BDO did not keep its word.

“Originally you guys said that Blur wouldn’t clash with Pearl jam. Blur pulls out and is replaced by the deftones. So you decide to put the deftones on at the same time as PJ. The two best bands on the line up and you put them up against each other. #fail,” (sic) Facebook user Skye Armstrong wrote.

“Flume & Steve Angelo clash against pearl jam and snoop!! So much for headliners not clashing!!!” another named Carly Billingham added.

“Epic fail with timetable clashes. Particularly the headliners. Disgraceful,” Lauren Davies also wrote on the official BDO Facebook page.

Big Day Out 2014 will be in Auckland on January 17, Melbourne on 24, Sydney on 26, Adelaide on 31, and Perth on February 2.
