"Big Hero 6" which is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures was shown in the U.S. and Canada on Nov. 7, 2014. It is an animated film based on the "Big Hero 6" comic book superheroes team from Marvel Comics by Man of Action. It features the voices of Ryan Potter (Hiro Hamada), Maya Rudolph (Cass Hamada), Scott Adsit (Baymax), Damon Wayans, Jr. (Wasabi), T. J. Miller (Fred), Jamie Chung (GoGo Tomago), James Cromwell (Professor Robert Callaghan), Génesis Rodríguez (Honey Lemon), Alan Tudyk (Alistair Krei), Daniel Henney (Tadashi Hamada) and Stan Lee (cameo as Fred's father). Here is the "Big Hero 6" movie review including the best and worst moments of the film.
"Big Hero 6" was directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams. Its screenplay was written by Dan Gerson, Jordan Roberts and Robert L. Baird. The film was produced by Roy Conli. Its running time is 102 minutes.
Its main plot is about Hiro Hamada, a 14-year-old robotics genius who lives in San Fransokyo. He also likes to get involved in robot fights in back alleys. His brother Tadashi inspired him to apply at his university by showing him the robotics lab and introducing him to his friends Wasabi, GoGo, Fred and Honey Lemon. Tadashi also showed Hiro the personal healthcare robot that he created - Baymax.
Hiro gets accepted in the university due to his impressive application using small robots that could be linked together into any arrangement. Unfortunately, there was a fire at the university and his brother as well as Professor Robert Callaghan died in it.
Hiro accidentally activated Baymax and they found out that his microbots are being mass produced. They were also attacked by Yokai which led Hiro, Baymax, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo and Fred to form a superhero team.
They eventually found out that Professor Robert Callaghan is alive and is in fact Yokai, who stole Hiro's microbots and used them to escape the fire at the university. Hiro got extremely angry upon knowing that his brother Tadashi died in vain. He ordered Baymax to kill Callaghan, but was stopped by his friends. Hiro finally realised that Baymax wasn't made for killing people.
The superhero team destroyed the microbots while Hiro and Baymax rescued Abigail, who is revealed to be Callaghan's daughter. Baymax sacrificed itself to save Abigail and Hiro.
Thankfully, Hiro was able to rebuild Baymax later when he discovered that his healthcare chip is included in the rocket fist that they used to get out of the portal. That's why they were able to reunite, and along with their superhero team, continued to save those in need.
"Big Hero 6" is a delightful film that is funny, touching and inspiring. The plot is engaging and the characters are lovable, especially Hiro and Baymax. Stan Lee's cameo at the end as Fred's retired superhero father was also a welcome surprise.
