Bill Cosby Files Charges Against Woman Who Claims Sexual Abuse At 15
Bill Cosby and his camp have retaliated for the first time as the actor fights back against the lawsuit filed recently for sexual abuse. The lawyers of Cosby are claiming that the lawsuit filed recently is absolutely false.
The lawsuit in question is filed by Judy Huth who claims that she was molested by the comedian when she was only 15. The incidents allegedly traumatised her for life, and she is now seeking payment for damages.
The lawyer of the 77-year-old actor, Martin Singer, has revoked the move by filing a case in a Los Angeles court blasting Huth's lawsuit as completely false. Singer has even claimed that Huth's lawyer attempted to extort $250,000 from Cosby before filing the suit, as reported by the Time.
Singer is also dismissing the fact that Huth has discovered the source of her psychological anguish within three years, claiming that she tried to sell the same story to a newspaper nine years ago.
Cosby's lawyer is speculated to be attempting to show that Huth is merely bending the facts to fit her case in accordance with the statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse cases in California. As per the papers filed by Singer, Huth has not provided any Certificate of Merit or a legally certified paper by a mental health practitioner to back up her claims of mental anguish.
Singer and his team are also hinting on blackmail, claiming that Huth's lawyer asked for an unnecessarily high amount of $100,00 and $250,000 on separate occasions to extract money from his client in exchange for her dropping the sexual abuse case.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles police department has assured the victims that the department will investigate all charges raised against the actor, even if it is beyond the stipulated time.
For his part, Cosby has found some supporters on social media platforms. Singer Jill Scott supported the actor on Twitter hinting that these are just allegations and nothing has been proven yet. Whoopi Goldberg also reflected similar sentiments that people should not trust everything they hear.
The popular comedian, who is witnessing sexual abuse charges every other day, thanked both the celebrities through his Twitter account.
