Bill Murray to appear in ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot
Bill Murray. who played Dr. Peter Venkman in the original “Ghostbusters” released in 1984, will reportedly star in the upcoming “Ghostbusters” reboot. However, it is still uknown if the actor will reprise his role as Dr. Venkman or will appear in a different role.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Murray’s appearance in the film. Murray may play supernatural skeptic Martin Heiss who will try to mess with the Ghostbusters, according to Screen Rant. There is, however, no official confirmation about his role in the new movie.
“I’ll do it [Ghostbuster reboot] if [they] kill me off in the first reel. So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film,” he had initially joked on “David Letterman Show.”
Apart from Murray, Dan Aykroyd, who played Dr. Raymond Stantz in the original film, has also signed on to appear in the reboot. He announced his appearance via a tweet (which was later deleted). He is set to share screen space with Kristen Wiig in the film, according to his deleted tweet (via A.V Club ). He is rumoured to play a cab driver, according to The Wrap.
The new “Ghostbusters” movie is being shot in Boston. It stars Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth is set to appear as a receptionist. Feig has written the screenplay of the film along with Kate Dippold. Speaking about the film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feig said that the film will be a hard reboot, adding that it will be “really scary.”
“I love the first one so much I don’t want to do anything to ruin the memory of that. So it just felt like, let’s just restart it because then we can have new dynamics. I want it to happen in our world today that hasn’t gone through it so it’s like, oh my God what’s going on?” he said.
