Bindi Irwin pays tribute to dad Steve on his 10th death anniversary
‘You'll be my hero for my entire existence,’ the Aussie celebrity says
It has been 10 years since “Crocodile Hunter” host Steve Irwin died after a stingray attack, and his beloved daughter, Bindi Irwin, honoured him with a sweet throwback picture.
On Saturday, the 18-year-old Australian celebrity took to Instagram to post an adorable photo of Steve while he was holding her up in one hand. “You'll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe,” the “Dancing With The Stars” Season 21 winner wrote.
Bindi, who also gained fame as an actress, TV personality and wildlife warrior, shared a similar photo back in April this year. It showed Steve carrying baby Bindi on one arm, and a koala bear on the other. Bindi, who was wearing a brown Australia Zoo uniform in the picture, wrote, “Looking through old photos – Baby Bindi adventures with my superhero.”

Terri Irwin, Steve’s wife and Bindi’s mum, also remembered the Australian icon on Sunday in time for Father’s Day. She posted a photo of Steve holding a young crocodile Bindi and son Robert. “Happy Father's Day Australia. Hug your dad,” the 52-year-old captioned the touching image.
A few days ago, Bindi’s boyfriend, Chandler Powell, also gave Steve a tribute of some sorts when he performed his first successful “croc jump,” a capture technique created by Steve. The move, which Chandler claims is still used today to ensure the safety of the crocodile and the people catching it, entails a person putting his body weight on the animal, holding its head and attaching a tracking device on it. Bindi was extremely proud of her 19-year-old wakeboarder boyfriend, sharing his achievement on her own social media account.

Steve, who achieved worldwide fame from the television series “Crocodile Hunter,” died at the age of 44 in September 2006. Whilst he was filming at a section of the Great Barrier Reef, he was attacked by a stingray which pierced his heart. His death is believed to be the only fatality from a stingray captured on film, but his family requested to destroy all copies of the video. Bindi has been known to continue his legacy as a wildlife warrior, but also became popular in her own right.
