Bindi Irwin shares the greatest lesson she has learned in 2016
A few days before the year ends, Australian celebrity Bindi Irwin reflects on what 2016 has taught her.
The “Dancing With The Stars” Season 21 winner took to Instagram to share her thoughts with her 1.3 million followers. “2016 has given many life lessons,” she wrote. “However, the greatest lesson of all – hold someone in your heart & they will live on forever.”
This year marked the death of Bindi’s famous dad, “Crocodile Hunter” host Steve Irwin. In September 2006, 44-year-old Steve died whilst he was filming at a section of the Great Barrier Reef, when he was attacked by a stingray which pierced his heart. Earlier in May, Bindi’s family hosted the first Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Los Angeles, US. The special charity event was conducted to celebrate Steve’s life and legacy, as well as to raise funds and awareness for the conservation work that he loved when he was still alive.
On Christmas day this year, Bindi posted a photo of herself with her mum Terri and her brother Robert aboard a sport ute, which looked like what Steve previously owned. “Merry Christmas, loves,” she wrote. “I'm so grateful for a gorgeous day with my little family, filled with love, laughter and looking for wildlife. A warm Australian Christmas is my favourite. Hope your day is filled with happiness and candy canes, wherever you may be.”
She also noted that she stopped as the photo was taken, telling her followers that she’s a safe driver. In March this year, Bindi announced that she has passed her driving test and got her licence. She posted a photo of herself holding up her new "P" plate, which stands for provisional driver, and shared that she took the test using her dad's “giant old ute.”

Currently, Bindi is happy in a relationship with Chandler Powell, whom she met back in 2013 when he visited Australia Zoo. The two stayed in touch and soon enough, their friendship blossomed into a full-blown romance.
