The annual Venice Film Festival started on Aug. 28, 2013 showcased sensational style and stunning looks as well as notable new films. Get all the glitz and glamour of the 70th annual Venice Film Festival here as the stars turn out for this spectacular Italian event.

Sandra Bullock and George Clooney lead a trend of red and black on the red carpet of the Opening Ceremony and "Gravity" premiere during the 70th Venice International Film Festival at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice. Bullock wore a dress from the J. Mendel pre-spring/summer 2014 collection, while Clooney chose a Giorgio Armani tuxedo.

As the 70th Venice Film Festival continued, Carey Mulligan led a second star-studded night on the red carpet, at the premiere of British short film collection, Women's Tales. The actress, who is sitting on the jury at this year's prestigious film event, which will screen 20 of the hottest new movies, stole the style show in a chic monochrome Miu Miu dress, Roger Vivier sexy day sandals.

Dakota Fanning attended the 'Night Moves' Venice Film Festival premiere on Saturday evening, held at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice, Italy. The beautiful blonde actress gave us our first look at the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection off the runway. Dakota Fanning with rings from Rona Pfeiffer and Cathy Waterman and beautiful navy sleeveless deep v-neck fully embellished ball gown looked stunning and suitable for the event.

Adult film star James Deen took centre stage this weekend at the 2013 Venice Film Festival wearing a sophisticated tuxedo from Louis Vuitton fall 2012 collection. It features a soft velvet finish on the lapel completed the ensemble with Louis Vuitton reflection derby shoes in black patent calf. He arrived with his adult film star girlfriend Stoya gladly stepped in.

Now that Lady Gaga's toned down her style, it only seems natural that someone else would come in and take her place, right?

Right, and where else but Italy to make a debut. Among the forever-glamorous Sandra Bullock and handsome George Clooney of the Venice Film Festival is Italian writer Countess Marina Ripa di Meana made an unforgettable entry in a bird cage head gear complete with stuffed song birds.

Marina Ripa di Meana, an author who apparently knows why the caged bird sings. She attended the festival's opening night channelling Sophia Loren on the bottom, and, well, not Sophia Loren on top.

To be fair, it's not the most ridiculous red carpet look we've seen. She may or may not know but her birdcage completes the trio of Bjork's swan dress and Gaga's Grammy egg ensemble.

Indeed Marina Ripa di Meana added spice to the Venice Film Festival 2013.
