'Black Adam' script being written, Dwayne Johnson confirms
The script of the upcoming DC film “Black Adam” is currently being written, lead cast member Dwayne Johnson said at the New York City premiere of his new movie “Skyscraper.” The actor will be playing the titular role in this film, which is yet to get a release date.
Comic book fans of the anti-hero Black Adam will have to wait for a while before they see the film version of the character. In an interview Variety Johnson said that the script is coming along, and so far he is happy with the story the writers have come up with.
Johnson didn’t share any timeline about when the production is expected to start for the film. He said that this is the kind of project that the producers should take their time with.
The script of the film is being written by Adam Sztykiel, who previously wrote for movies like “Made of Honor,” “Due Date” and “Rampage.” Johnson is the only confirmed cast member, and they are yet to select a director to helm the film.
The character Black Adam is from the comics. He gets his powers from Egyptian gods. In his back-story he is sometimes seen as an antihero and sometimes as a super villain. He is an antagonist of the superhero Shazam, who was also known as Captain Marvel in the comics.
The character Shazam is being played by Zachary Levi in the DC Cinematic Universe, and this is a different character from the Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The upcoming movie “Shazam,” directed by David F. Sandberg, is a good opportunity to introduce Black Adam in the DC Cinematic Universe. However, Johnson has said that he will not be appearing in the film.
Filming of “Shazam” has already been completed, while the script of “Black Adam” is still being written. This may be a reason why the antihero will not be introduced in the 2019 movie.
