'Black Panther' in the Works, 'Absolutely in Development' Says Marvel Boss
Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios confirmed that "Black Panther" the movie is in the works.
In addition to Nov.'s theatrical release of the newest "Thor" -"Thor: The Dark World", Marvel Studios will be releasing two films in the summer of 2015, sources say but it is not yet sure whether it will be "Black Panther" who will be hitting the big screen next.
There are also unannounced projects of Marvel Studios according to ScreenRant due to be released either in 2016 or 2017.
One of these movies, reports say, includes that of "Black Panther". Fans are now saying that the release of the new film is no longer a question of "if" of "when" especially after Marvel's Kevin Feige talked to BlackTree TV.
When asked by BlackTree TV about "Black Panther", Kevin Feige said, "In terms of Black Panther, it's absolutely in development, and when you have something as rich as Wakanda and Black Panther's back story -and clearly, Vibranium's been introduced in the universe already - I don't know when it will be exactly but certainly we have plans to bring him to life someday."
Feige's mention of Vibranium refers to the shield of Captain America. The element is a fictional type of element indigenous to Wakanda where the character Black Panther resides.
For the other Marvel movies in 2016 and 2017, ScreenRant says the safe bets are on Thor and Captain America.
Black Panther first appeared in July 1966 in Fantastic Four making the Black Panther the first black superhero in American comics. The name however is not related to the Black Panther Party founded in Oct. of 1966.
The Black Panther is the chief of Wakanda, a very advanced nation in Africa. Aside from ruling Wakanda, he also rules other tribes.
Based on his back story, being the Black Panther is more like a title and one can inherit it. However, the comic book says the title must be earned.
