Ambitions are set to collide in "Black Sails" Season 2. A new trailer from the upcoming season focuses on the women in the TV show. Eleanor Guthrie is set to emerge as a leader and take on new challenges in building her new world at Nassau. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]

Nassau will continue to be important in "Black Sails" Season 2. In the video below, Eleanor is seen telling someone that the "whole of England" wants the island. Although she tries to build the island as a strong trading hub, the ambitious people on the island will be focussed more on their individual advancement.

One character in the TV show who may come in the way of Eleanor's vision is Max. Those who have watched the previous season will remember that Max is now in control of a brothel in Nassau. Max is set to become more powerful in the upcoming season using her intelligence. She will begin to trade in secrets, and even Captain Charles Vane is seen coming to her with a request.

Hannah New, the actress who plays Eleanor Guthrie, said in the video that her character will grow to become a dark Machiavellian leader in order to achieve her goals. Her goal is to make more profits while guarding against people like Max.

Clara Paget spoke about her character Anne Bonny in "Black Sails" Season 2. The character has been a woman of few words in the previous season. Viewers may get to see more of her back story in the upcoming season and see a different side to her personality. Toby Schmitz, who plays Rackham, said that Anne will begin to wonder who she really is in the upcoming season.

The other major female character in "Black Sails" Season 2 is Miranda Barlow, played by Louise Barnes. Robert Levine, co-creator and executive producer of the show, said that Miranda's character has evolved from someone trapped in her situation to finding a way to effect change.

Miranda will want to play a more active role in her partnership with Captain Flint in "Black Sails" Season 2. The trailer of the upcoming season shows Miranda saying that she has some information that can change things for Captain Flint. The first episode of the next season is slated to air on Jan. 24, 2015.
