'Black Sails' season 4 spoilers: Rise of Long John Silver

Long John Silver is expected to play a big role in “Black Sails” season 4. New videos released online show how he faced multiple challenges, and overcome them eventually to emerge as a formidable character.

John Silver (Luke Arnold) began as an opportunistic pirate with a sharp memory and a thirst for gold. But, it was not easy to earn the respect of the fellow members of the crew. He used the strategy of reminding them how much they hate each other, and in the process became a beloved member of the crew.

After proving his skills as a powerful orator, John Silver used his influence on the crew to drive the agenda. He later earned the respect of the pirates after he chose to remain loyal to them even when one of his legs was cut off.

The one legged pirate started to take his first steps into becoming a legend in the previous season. The character got the name Long John Silver for his long memory, something that the people in Nassau are now familiar with. In “Black Sails” season 4 the character is expected to rise in prominence as the pirates fight their final battle against the British forces.

The pirates have a shaky alliance with the former slaves. It is Long John Silver who continues to make sure this alliance is maintained. A trailer of the next season showed how the character will work hard to keep the peace, while Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) is concerned about the two groups working together till they defeat the British.

“Black Sails” season 4 can be watched on Showcase and Netflix in Australia. The new season will premiere on Jan. 29. To get the fans excited, a new video released online shows the cast members reading fan comments about their characters and the show.
