BlackBerry 10.2 OS is scheduled to be released next week and it brings new features to improve BlackBerry devices, apps and services. Here are ten new changes you should expect from BlackBerry 10.2 OS.
Priority Hub
Priority Hub keep conversations better with the ability to learn what conversation are more important, automatically puts them on top of your inbox and new attachment view for organising files and documents between accounts within their respective threads.
BBM Video Plus Natural Sound
BlackBerry Messenger now comes with live face-to-face conversation to anyone, anywhere in the world. It also features Natural Sound which makes the conversation more realistic between BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The Natural Sound captures a wider set of sound spectrum to hear subtle nuances unlike with cellular calls.
Instant Previews of BBM, SMS and Email
BlackBerry 10.2 enables preview of BBM, SMS and Email messages from any app your screen displays with additional function to reply SMS and BBM or visit BlackBerry Hub using a single swipe to respond emails.
BlackBerry Virtual Keyboard
The BlackBerry keyboard gets a lot smarter with upgraded speed and accuracy for next word suggestion and auto-correction. Audio feedback has been improved as well with distinct tones for specific keys to assure users on hitting the right key.
Copy and Paste
Copy and Paste functionality also gets upgraded and it offers more precise cursor control, easier text selection, pop-up editing options and direct sharing with BBM, Facebook and Twitter.
Sharing Made Easy
Sharing has been faster and easier by reducing the steps and time required to get files, photos and documents shared. "Share" key in any app also provide suggestions on which target and how to share files based on the previous sharing method used and eventually memorises how more often you use it.
Lock Screen Notifications
No need to unlock the phone to preview messages whenever the red light flashes, but instead, the lock screen enables a peek for the latest email, SMS, BBM and any other message notifications on your BlackBerry smartphone. You can also customise which accounts should appear on the lock screen with icons to display such as sender and subject line.
Reply Now
Respond to an incoming phone call via BBM, SMS or email with customisation to which standard should be used as an automated response.
Calendar Enhancements
A new feature has been added called "I'm running late" functionality which instantly let meeting participants know that you are going to be late. It also includes specified new time in your notification, redesigned interface and easier management of events.
Additional Improvements
BlackBerry 10.2 OS will also bring improvements on the Docs to Go, BlackBerry Hub icon and camera enhancements. All of these features will soon become available in the following territories:
- Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Middle East on the last week of October
- Latin America: Starting in November
- United States: Starting this winter
Update Procedure
The BlackBerry Hub will send a notification regarding the latest OS or check it manually by going to System Settings > Software Updates.
Downloading the software will occur in the background which allows you to use the smartphone without any interference.
BlackBerry recommends creating a backup of all personal information, settings and data files before performing any software upgrades.
