BlackBerry breaks the week with fanfare, announcing that it has just received a purchase for one million BlackBerry 10 smartphones, now dubbed as the largest ever single purchase in BlackBerry's history.

"An order for one million devices is a tremendous vote of confidence in BlackBerry 10," said BlackBerry's executive vice president of global sales Rick Constanzo in a press release. "With strong partner support, coupled with this truly re-invented new platform, we have a powerful recipe for success."

The kicker? The buyer has been undisclosed. According to Digital Trends, there are speculations as to who the mystery may be, among which include the potential U.S. network demand considering the upcoming launch, as well as potential government of private sector buyers.

Whether this signifies that BlackBerry is on a roll or otherwise is left to be seen, as further announcements (if any surface) on just who exactly ordered the 1 million Z10 handsets might be.

Skeptics beware: BlackBerry converts iPhone and Android Users

But this doesn't mean that BlackBerry doesn't have anything to worry about. According to a report in Forbes, 45% of those who have bought BlackBerry's flagship BB10 phone are either iPhone or Android converts.

This came from the RBC Capital markets, who now speculate that, based on recent data, BlackBeryr may hit the high for its fourth quarter reports.

This is where the going can get tough or easy as pie, as the Z10 hits U.S. and demands may start piling in. Here's to waiting for BlackBerry's success for its upcoming launches.

The Z10 NY Launch Party: Who's invited?

In light of its recent launches in Canada and UK, BlackBerry is gearing up for New York launch event for its (still fairly) new flagship BB10 phone, the Z10.

Dubbed as the BlackBerry Experience, CrackBerry reports that the launch event is schedule on the 21st of March. What's more is that the event is exclusive, and BlackBerry has already sent out the invitations.

Invited guests can expect a show from Janelle Monae, Young the Giant, and DJ Z-Trip, reports CNet.

And even though BlackBerry Global Creative Director Alicia Keys was not mentioned, let's hope that she can also be there to join the celebrations-perhaps even as a key executive member rather than a performer this time around.
