BlackBerry Z10 has allowed sideloading of apps from Android, but this process can also be done if you are a MAC laptop owner.

Used to be, this was a fairly harder process, reports Bes10cals.com, but there is now a simpler tutorial that makes use of an automator script.

To begin, N4BB reports that you need to have the following tools in your laptop: the PlayBook_Tools by HaTaX, Side-load automator script by Darryl Kraemer, and the latest version of Java Runtime Environment already installed in your laptop/

  1. Open the Playbook_Tools file, and look for the PB-Installer.bat. You should then change the information in the IP address and password bar according to your BlackBerry 10 device. Press on Command + S to save the changes.
  2. Before moving on, you have to make sure that the .apk files have been converted to BAR files, or else the files won't be side-loaded.
  3. Open the device settings found on your BB10 gadget. Click on Security and Privacy and then on Development Mode located at the bottom-most part of the screen.
  4. The option is yours on whether or not you will change the IP address in the pre-filled tab. By switching on the toggle, a pop-up will prompt, which will ask for the IP address and password of the PB-Installer.bat file.
  5. Open and install the "BB10 Sideload Android App" which is also the automator script. This is required to install the Android and other .BAR apps to your device.
  6. Plug your BB10 device to your laptop, and enter the password that you set for the Development Mode Screen (if it prompts). Look for the program "BB10 Sideload Android App."
  7. Move your chosen app .BAR files to the Playbook_Tools folder. You can only enter the title of the app you want to install one at a time. Let your app successfully install, and when it does, just wait for the window prompt to enable the next installation.

You can now enjoy more apps for your BlackBerry Z10.
