For some time, the battle of smartphones has not only extended to its technical specs and performance, but also its screen size-which led to the development of bigger smartphones than what your pocket can handle.

This begs the question of Lenovo's latest release and flagship device, the K900, which is supposedly dubbed as a smartphone, but given its screen size, some may wonder if it's a cross-breed.

Performance and build

CNet has called the K900 as a flagship smartphone, even with its 5.5-inch IPS screen. What is remarkable about this device is its processor, bearing Intel's latest 32nm dual-core Z2580 processor, and the first in the Clover Trail+ lineup.

Compared to the BlackBerry Z10's 4.2-inch capacitive touch screen with WXGA resolution, and 1.5 Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon with Adreno 225 GPU, K900 seems to feature the more advanced technology, according to TechBase,

If you are a fan of the big screen, K900 is the choice. However, if you use your smartphone mainly as a communication device, the BlackBerry still holds the upper hand as the communication smartphone, especially with its BlackBerry Hub.

Inside matters: OS

The Lenovo K900 runs on the Android 4.2, one of the latest that it has to offer. And then there's the BlackBerry 10 OS for the Z10.

On the technical side, both operating systems are improvements, with the Android 4.2 being the latest in the market while BB10 has recently received a software update that fixed the bugs, allowing for a smoother user experience.

Camera

Hands down, this round has to be for Lenovo K900, particularly for its 13-megapixel camera that puts it on the top of its class.

The BlackBerry Z10, on the other hand, has an 8-megapixel camera, but it does have a single LED flash, reports TechRadar. Lower specs compared to the K900, but expected considering the difference in release dates - and proof of just how fast developments in phones are made.

However, K900 does not have the TimeShift camera, something that the Z10 has been hyping about since its release. For those who want a built-in app that allows you to take around 10 shots for every click so you can edit the best picture, BB10 takes this cake.

Expandable storage and battery

The Z10 boasts of an expandable capacity of 64GB, in addition to its 16GB of internal memory and 2GB of RAM.

For now, there are still no details on the storage capacities of the Lenovo K900, reports CNet. But PhoneArena lists it as having a 2500 mAh battery, a potential rival or even better opponent to the Z10's 1800 mAh.

Details are still lacking for the Lenovo K900, but its specs do hold promise as a good contender phone. However, given its size, it may be better off as a potential phablet hybrid, matching up against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note, more than anything.
