Red is interested in the scientist's research and when he wants to find what interests him, he gives the task force the blacklister assignment. The task force will be seen digging out information on Dr Powell to catch him, believing that they need to find him before he succeeds in his nefarious plan. The preview indicates that Dr Powell may have made a breakthrough and he may need innocent victims to test it on.

According to the synopsis of the episode, the task force will track down this scientist who “abducts disabled patients to conduct experiments on immortality.” But before they could reach him, it is Red who finds Dr Powell, the preview clip suggests. He can be seen saying to him in the preview, “I’m interested in your research.”

In the previous episode, Tom came back to make the ultimate sacrifice, confessing in front of the judge that he killed the harbourmaster, not Liz. Tom Connelly, however, made sure that he walked out as a free man, with no record of him confessing his crime. Connelly did that to protect the task force.

Tom may not have been incarcerated but he will have to pay a price for leaving his new assignment midway. He will be facing a new set of dangerous enemies and will be seen scrambling to save himself from them in episode 17.

And speaking about what is next for Tom, Ryan Eggold, who plays Tom on the show, said to Tv.com that he is in “realm of, “Who am I, really?" The stone-cold criminal is going to look at himself in the mirror and ask who he is as a real person, “without permission, without a job, or without a mask,” according to the actor. Also with Tom back in the town, it can be expected that Liz and his relationship is going to be explored again.
