The preview of Episode 7 of "The Blacklist" Season 2 hints that something explosive is going to happen in the episode. "... but the greatest shock of them all is the bomb that Red is going to drop," according to the preview. "Scimitar" is the title of the episode and it is the last episode before the fall finale. According to the preview, "everything is reaching a turning point."

The last episode saw Liz getting the sniper-man arrested, and he was sent to solitary confinement, after he found out what Liz is hiding from Red. Red told Liz that he will eventually find out her secret. The final moments of "The Blacklist" revealed that Tom is alive. Liz is keeping him behind the closed door as her prisoner. In "The Mombasa Cartel," Liz told him that she has not yet decided what to do with him. She thought of telling Red, as he would know what to do, but she did not as it is her responsibility. Tom seems to have answered all her questions. He said to Liz, "You can't hide me forever." In the episode 6 preview clip, Tom is seen saying to Liz, "if you're going to kill me, just do me a favour, look me in the eyes when you do that." The preview suggests that Red is close to figuring out that Liz saved Tom's ilfe.

Meanwhile, "The Scimitar" is the new criminal on the blacklist. He is a cunning hitman. He will be seen targeting a valuable scientist. The episode sees the return of Berlin. According to the synopsis, Liz will be seen working on Berlin's case, trying to find information on him.

The last episode saw Red befriending Zoe as Kenneth. In the upcoming episode, Red will continue to meet this woman. It does not look like she is Red's daughter but she seems to be holding a key to unlock the mystery of Berlin's daughter.
