Original air date on NBC: May 5, 2016; Next episode airs May 12
In Season 3 Episode 21 of “The Blacklist,” Red (James Spader) finally confronted Scottie (Janssen Famke) to identify the man behind Liz’s (Megan Boone) attack and eventual death. The two also ended up forming an unlikely alliance.
Susan “Scottie” Hargrave debuted in the episode, shown to be the co-owner of Halcyon Aegis, together with her husband Howard. Halcyon is a private military intelligence group that focuses on sophisticated missions. Scottie and her group were hired by a mysterious employer to go after Liz, which eventually led to her death on her wedding day. Scottie also clarified to Red that they were not supposed to kill Liz, but only abduct her. .
The government was also actively trying to cover the organization that tried to abduct Liz. The team thought that the best way to find Scottie would be through Tom (Ryan Eggold). Tom posted as a guy named Reggie to get the needed computer files from an assistant named Amanda Bigelow. Tom managed to get the data from a laptop to get ahead of Scottie.
To meet with Scottie personally, Red had to grab her attention by killing some of her closest partners and interrupt her business operations. Although Scottie wanted to murder Red in the process of meeting with him, the latter was always ahead of her plans, with some help from Tom.
When they finally met, Scottie told Red that they were hired by someone named Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who happens to be Red’s longtime enemy. Since Scottie failed to abduct Liz, she is concerned that Kirk is also after them, so Red suggested that they work together.
During the episode, titled “Susan Hargrave,” it turned out that Scottie’s husband, Howard, and Red were actually friends. Aram (Amir Arison) and Tom also appeared to be forming a very strong bond while Liz is away. Tom also told Aram that he really loves Liz and has no plans of dating others yet. Tom advised Aram to tell Samar (MozanMarno) his feelings already. If Liz is only temporarily hiding, Tom most likely knows about it already.
“The Blacklist” airs next on May 12 on NBC.
