"The Blacklist" has introduced a lot of characters from Red's past but his past is still shrouded in mystery. The premiere episode introduced his former wife Naomi. The episodes that featured her stayed silent on what went wrong in Red and Naomi's relationship and why Naomi changed her identity and was living in witness protection. None of the questions related to Red's past were answered, though his wife indicated that she knew all the answers, including answers about Liz's past. The episode 5 of "The Blacklist" Season 2, "The Front," has introduced someone who holds the key to Red's past. It is being speculated that she is Red's daughter, Jennifer. Red Hires Glenn And Approaches Aram To Find The Girl

Red hires an official called Glenn at DMV to find 'the girl'. He is known to be the best tracker. This best tracker also needs time to locate someone's whereabouts. Red is not too happy to learn that Glenn has again failed to track down the girl. Later, Red approaches Aram, seeking his help to track down 'the girl'. He hands him a photograph of the girl and tells him that the girl is critical in his war with Berlin. When Liz comes to know about that from Aram, she is furious. She goes to Red and tells him to stop using FBI for his personal work and that Aram will not help him to track his daughter. Aram's help is not needed, as Glenn is able to find a girl who is 97 per cent match of the girl in the photograph. At the end of the episode, Red goes to the address and watches her work in a food truck.

"The Blacklist" Case: The Front's Maddox Beck

Liz wants the sniper, Red's man, to stop following her. Red does not agree to that. He, however, has a case to keep her and the FBI team buzy. He mentions about the woman who got hit by a taxi. The episode opens with this woman telling another woman [Let's call her Ms X] on the phone that she wants to go to the police as the man they worked with is in a murderous mood. Ms X stops her from going to the police and asks her to meet her first. Ms X arrives at the location with a man. He asks the woman "where is it?" The woman does not hand him whatever he wants from her. This results in a physical fight between the two. The man wants to grab her bag. The woman ends up getting hit by a tax. The man opens her bag and finds whatever he was looking for and walks away from there with Ms X.

Red tells Liz that the dead woman is Carrie-Ann Beck, the wife of Maddox Beck. He is the leader of The Front, a radical environmental organisation. Everyone believes that this organisation has been dismantled, but according to Red, The Front is still very much there and it just went underground. Maddox believes that humans should be killed to protect the environment of the Earth.

The FBI taskforce finds out that a 14th century painting was stolen by the husband-wife duo. The scan of the painting reveals some kind of map. It is the map that leads to the remains of a priest who died of the plague. Soon, the FBI team finds out that the remains are buried under one of the oldest churches in New York. Agent Ressler and Liz enter the underground tunnels but Maddox has already got what he wanted [the deadly plague virus]. Liz is unable to stop him from getting away with one of his accomplices. Rats are used to make the virus incurable. Maddox tells his followers that they have the humanity virus to eradicate the mankind. He picks a woman and infects her with the virus. More than two thousand people get infected because of her. The next plan is to cause the plague outbreak all across the world. He gets himself and a group of his followers infected. The FBI team discovers that the infected people are flying out to different parts of the world. Except one, all the infected individuals have boarded their respective planes. Samar and Liz go to arrest him. He infects Samar. Liz shoots him. Samar tries to quarantine herself but Liz joins her. Aram calls up Red to inform that Liz has been infected. Red drops a hint about Maddox's location. Red reaches the location before the FBI team. He finds Maddox with Ms X in the woods. Maddox does not seem infected with plague. Red figures out that Maddox has the antidote. Samar and Liz are on their way to recovery. Red is at Liz's bedside, while Aram is with Samar.

Liz Admits She Is Possessive About Red

Liz says to Samar that Red is the bane of her life. She admits to her that she has become possessive about Red and was jealous when she found out that Red is trying to find his daughter. She also tells her about the time when she was married and was going to adopt a baby.

Liz Hires A Girl

Liz has hired a girl, who has a striking resemblance to her, to fool the sniper and stop him from following her. One night, she slips away while the hired girl, standing in front of the window, does a strip show. The sniper is watching her from his window. He does not figure out that the girl is not Liz.

Liz Enters The Secret Room

Liz opens the door and enters the room. The identity of the person who is behind the door will be revealed in the next episode.
