The final moments of the last episode, "The Mombasa Cartel," revealed that Liz is keeping Tom Keen locked up inside a room. Prisoner Tom is the secret that she is hiding from Red. In the first season finale, Liz shot Tom and he lost consciousness after whispering in her ear that her father is alive. In that scene, it looked like Tom has breathed his last. Later, when the cops arrived at the spot, Tom's body was not there. Liz may have kept Tom alive for two possible reasons -- because she still has feelings for Tom or because he can answer some of her questions.

Speaking about why Liz saved Tom's life, Megan Boone, who plays Liz, has said to Entertainment Weekly, Liz "decided to keep Tom alive because it was in a misguided effort to reclaim her dignity and her power. She was so mislead by him."

The actress revealed that the upcoming episodes are going to indicate that Liz still has feelings for him. However, according to Boone, "these are not simple acts of trying to rekindle a romance." She also said that it is the case of "ego than heart." Boone said that Liz has denied him medical care, nutrients and everything.

In the last episode, Liz said to Tom that she has not yet decided what to do with him. Tom said that he has answered all her questions and she cannot hide him forever. Sooner or later, Red is going to find out that Liz saved Tom's life. It will be interesting to see Red's reaction when he finds out Liz's secret.

In the preview clip of episode 7, which is titled "The Scimitar," Tom is seen saying to Liz, "if you're going to kill me, just do me a favour, look me in the eyes when you do it." This episode is the last episode before the fall finale and according to the preview, "everything is reaching a point."
