Blinky Bill Set For 3-D Debut
Beloved Koala Set For the Big Screen
It has been confirmed that Australia's most beloved cartoon koala bear, Blinky Bill, is set for his 3-D feature film debut. Flying Bark Productions, who have been responsible for animations such as "The Legend of Enyo" and "Zigby", confirmed that the project will begin production this year.
The production has secured a coup in recruiting the lead animator of "Happy Feet", Alex Seight, who is set to direct the film. Marie-Cecile Dahan is confirmed as line producer and has a wealth of experience having worked on "Avatar", "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and "District 9."
Blinky Bill's last appearance on film was in 1992's "Blinky Bill: The Mischievous Koala", also produced by Flying Bark Productions (then known as Yoram Gross Film Studios).
The story promotes the notion of conservation as Blinky Bill and his animal friends have their peaceful habitat destroyed by humans. In the film Blinky Bill rallies his friends as they attempt to preserve their habitat and also rescue his mother from captivity.
