“The Block NZ” will be returning on air with a new set of judges. Shelley Ferguson and Mark Gascoigne will be joining the third season of the show, replacing season two judges Jeremy Hansen and Janice Kumar-Ward.

Like their predecessors, both Ferguson and Gascoigne are more than qualified to judge renovation works.

With years of experience, Ferguson, the managing editor of Your Home and Garden, knows what to look for in a good house renovation.

“I’m addicted to decor, design and renovating, so judging The Block NZ2014 is an absolute privilege. The Block NZ is such a great showcase of creativity and Kiwi ingenuity – I can’t wait to see what this season’s teams have in store,” she said in the release.

Mark Gascoigne, on the other hand, has nearly 30 years of experience, and with over 2000 projects both in New Zealand and overseas under his belt.

“I would like to see exceptional ideas that not only take into account the uses of each space but also show some real personality and a distinctive style,” the architect said.

“I love design challenges and hope I can also challenge this year’s teams to produce the best work ever seen on The Block NZ.”

They are the third set of judges of the show. Season one saw Victoria Bidwell and Stewart Harris as judges, while Hansen and Kumar-Ward took over in the following season.

The show features a set of partners who are given houses to renovate with the goal of selling them at an auction. The teams get to keep the profit from the sale of their property, and the winning team takes home an additional cash prize of $80,000.

Last season, winning duo Alice and Caleb took home $181,000 in profit and prize money.

Four new teams will be introduced in the coming weeks for the third season.

Mark Richardson and Shannon Ryan continue to host the show.
