Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her family were involved in a drunken brawl on Saturday in Anchorage at the 40th birthday party of a champion snowmobile racer. The incident was triggered by daughter Bristol throwing blows at the host because another male guest, who used to date Willow Palin, was making a go at the former vice presidential candidate's daughter.

According to the blog Political Gates, Track Palin also ripped his shirt in angry and also threw punches in the backwoods brawl. Palin's husband, Todd, also joined and ended up with a bloody nose when he tried to break up the fight.

About 20 people out of the 70 who attended the party were involved in the fight, according to the Alaska Dispatch News.

But while the punches were being thrown, the band hired for the party kept on playing throughout the melee, the New York Post reports.

The Palins were asked to leave, and the former governor was heard screaming, "You know who we are, don't you?" which ABC described the incident as like Jerry Springer episode.

The police arrived after the Palins left the party. No charges have been filed, but ABC said there is an ongoing investigation.

However, Palin claimed in her Facebook page that at the time the incident happened, she was traveling. Bu one commenter, Kimberly Vranckaert-Trujillo, belied Palin's claim and said she saw the incident happen. She urged the politician not to fib, although Vranckaert-Trujillo later deleted her comment.

She also guested on a Fox News show but did not mention anything about the incident. The Anchorage Police Department had confirmed about a verbal and physical altercation on late Saturday night at Harbor Circle in the Oceanview neighbourhood and said that some of the Palins were at the party.
