Bollywood Superstars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan Hug Each Other (VIDEO), SRK Tweets
In an impromptu, unscripted moment, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had a formal handshake and embraced each other in a hug on Sunday evening. Loud cheers and clapping provided the perfect background score to the picture perfect moment at the 'Iftaar' party of a Congress leader at Taj Land's End, Mumbai.
The video of the moment shows Salman Khan making the first move by tapping on the shoulder of his close friend-turned-foe. At the Iftaar table, Shah Rukh Khan was seated next to Salim Khan, Salman Khan's father. A couple of years ago, Salman Khan had said, "SRK and I can never be friends." And, thus it comes as a surprise that he took the initiative after rejecting Shah Rukh Khan's apologies and olive branch in the past.
"Shah Rukh Khan shook hands with Salman Khan and both even hugged each other surprising the guests present at the Iftar", according to an eye-witness as quoted in India Today.
It has taken nearly five years for the 'not on speaking' terms former friends to show a friendly gesture towards each other. The two superstars of Bollywood had a heated argument at the birthday bash of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif in 2008 and ever since then, it has been sarcastic barbs from Salman Khan and cold silence from Shah Rukh Khan.
Mr Baba Siddique, the host of the Iftaar Party, told the Hindustan Times, "Hope this friendship stays. Maybe they wanted to do so, that's why they did."
There are speculations that the hug may possibly lead to the end of acrimony between the two popular Bollywood actors. Shah Rukh Khan's tweet on Monday morning almost confirms it's patch-up time:
Tweet: "Finally u realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, becos there is so much more to the book than the page u were stuck on."
Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Chennai Express, slated to release on August 11, 2013.
