Star-studded is an understatement when it comes to Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained."

"Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen is said to be in the talks to join the "Kill Bill" director's upcoming 2012 film, Entertainment Weekly confirms.

The film is about a slave who, with the help of his mentor, becomes a bounty hunter and hunts down Calvin Candie, the person who stole his wife, and rescues her from the Mississippi plantation owner.

With movies having influences from kung fu, gindhouse and spaghetti Western films, Quentin Tarantino has been known to create films with non-linear storylines as well as violence. He gained notoriety from his gritty films such as "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction," as well the most recent blockbuster "Inglorious Basterds."

Joining the "Ali G" star are Hollywood heavyweights such as Jamie Foxx (as the title character), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. In a surprise, it will be Leonardo DiCaprio who will play the villainous plantation owner and not Christoph Waltz.

Christoph Waltz have played various antagonists in recent movies such as "Water for Elephants" co-starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, as well as the Tarantino-helmed movie "Inglorious Basterds" where he played Col. Hans Landa, a Third Reich officer.

"Sacha Baron Cohen will play Scotty, a gambler who purchases Django's slave wife (Kerry Washington) to use as a female companion. Scotty is said to be a smaller role, but he plays a vital part in the story," reports the Movie Web.

Production is said to be scheduled next year, and Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone, and Reginald Hudlin will produce, with Harvey Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, and James W. Skotchdopole executive producing, as reported by Movie Web.

It is good to see that the comedian known for malicious roles such as "Bruno," "Borat," and "Ali G" are starting to take on more serious roles. He can be seen taking an even more serious role in the 2007 horror musical "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" where he starred as Pirelli, alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter.

It is rumored that "Django Unchained" will be released at Christmas 2012.
