Boston Celtics vs San Antonio Spurs live stream: Watch NBA live on TV, preview, start time
The Boston Celtics (13-11), a team that has lost three of their last four games, will have their hands full against the mighty San Antonio Spurs (19-5) in a road game on Wednesday.
While the Celtics are fresh off losses to the Toronto Raptors and Oklahoma City Thunder, the Spurs are coming off their most dominant performance of the season, a blowout 130-101 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. San Antonio's dominating performance came a few nights after coach Gregg Popovich called out the team for their lacklustre showing against the Chicago Bulls last Thursday.
The Spurs have won 19 of their 24 games but veteran Manu Ginobili feels the team is still to play to potential. "(The win over Brooklyn Nets) was a great step ahead; now we have to make sure we continue to improve and learn from these first 24 games.
"You won't find anyone in this locker room who's satisfied with the way we are playing. We all know we can do so much better. We won't look at our record or the success we've had," the future Hall-of-Famer said after the rout against Brooklyn, via ESPN.
Dealing with injuries all season, the game against Brooklyn was only the 11th time in the season when all five starters played together. "The fun is when everyone feels involved. A lot of times we talk about how good things start for us with our defence, but over the past 15 games or so we've struggled some on offense and that's been what's slowing us down," the Argentinian guard said of his team's up-and-down season.
Boston Celtics hoping to end meltdowns
Meanwhile, Celtics coach Brad Stevens admittedly called out his team for the crushing defeat to Russell Westbrook's Thunder -- a game which saw Boston flounder the lead in the final minutes. "That's a frustrating loss, because we played really hard on the defensive end for most of the night. We had critical turnovers throughout the game. We screwed up a few coverages throughout the course of the night, but not very many."
Al Horford, the team's high-profile offseason acquisition, said it was frustrating for his team to blow leads late in the fourth quarters. "It is frustrating, but we need to look at this film, have a good practice, and get focused. No one's going to feel bad for us. We need to stay together. And we will."
The Boston Celtics have lost their last 10 games against the San Antonio Spurs, dating back to the 2010-11 season. Needless to say, the odds are stacked heavily against Boston on Wednesday.
