Boston Marathon Explosion: 'Acts of Kindness' Restore Social Media User's Faith in Humanity [PHOTOS]
The Boston Marathon explosion sparked different reactions among social media users who learned about the Apr. 15 tragedy. Several calls for prayers were posted almost instantly. Some users looked for who or what to blame. Others did the least they can, like spreading messages and images that could help keep one's faith in humanity.
An 8-year-old boy, whose father ran the Boston Marathon, died in man's latest act of senseless violence. His mother and sister were injured. People taking good care of their body by running lost their legs. Two other individuals perished after explosives set in pressure cookers in duffel bags took off amid a huge crowd. Children cheering for their parents are traumatized. Families suffer in shock and horror in what was supposed to be a happy occasion. People losing faith in humanity was the most predictable effect of this darkness. But little acts of kindness have been going a long way.
Many of those in Boston offered tremendous help to the explosion victims by offering shelter. At the scene, runners who covered 26.2 miles ran back towards the explosion to help out. Strangers were there for each other. On Google+ users posted a public spreadsheet of Boston residents opening their homes to those in need. Google also put up a person finder site for missing persons, including those rushed to hospitals after the tragedy.
Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels streamed news and updates about the Boston Marathon tragedy. No individual or organization has claimed responsibility for what has been deemed a terrorist attack. U.S. President Barack Obama has consoled his country by saying justice will be served.
