Due to her controversial scoring on the recent Mayweather-Alvarez Bout on Saturday, CJ Ross has taken an indefinite leave of absence.

The professional boxing judge gave a score of draw, 114-114, which made a lot of eyebrows to rise because, well, it was a clear victory for Mayweather. Everyone who watched the bout felt that Mayweather has definitely conquered. Some even say, it was one of Mayweather's best routines ever.

Mayweather was unhappy about her decision because he was expecting to win via unanimous decision instead of majority. The other judges who arbitrated the fight had their scorecards in favor of him. Even Alvarez believed that he lost poorly to Mayweather.

At any rate, due to her bizarre score of draw, Ross was greatly disparaged by boxing fans and sports aficionados.

The Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) has not yet given a statement to answer the so-called awkward scoring that Ross gave.

"We will hold a mandatory seminar to all judges in Nevada in the approaching months, and there will be changes to the process of selection for judges," said NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.

Ross notified NSAC via email stating that she will be taking an indefinite leave of absence as a judge. This was later confirmed by Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

In 2012, Ross also received wide criticism for her scoring on the Pacquiao-Bradley bout, as many people thought that Pacquaio triumphed.

Ross' leave of absence is a sign that she probably doesn't want to talk more about the score she gave on the Mayweather-Alvarez bout. Was her leave of absence self-imposed or did the NSAC imposed a lot of demands and pressure on her? It is hard to tell. If Ross thought that the fight was a draw, shouldn't she justify that?

It would really be best to have competitive judges score a fight to avoid criticisms.
