The showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. could finally happen in 2014 as both camps expressed interest in arranging the most lucrative and biggest match in the history of boxing.

Fresh from his 12-round demolition of Brandon Rios on Saturday at Venetian Macao in Macau, China, Pacquiao proved once again that it's still long way to go before father time.

The 34-year-old Pacquiao exhibited a boxing clinic through 12 dominant rounds, hitting Rios with devastating blows coming from different angles and unleashing a flurry of combination to completely baffle his bigger but flat-footed foe in their WBO International Welterweight clash.

As expected, Pacman's latest win has garnered mixed reactions from boxing analysts and fellow boxers, though many believed the win only proved that Pacquiao is still a strong contender in the Welterweight and Super Welterweight division.

Floyd Mayweather Sr, the father and current trainer of pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, was impressed by the way Pacquiao darted in and out of Rios' coverage. The elder Mayweather even likened Pacman's latest triumph in the ring to his son's flawless victory against Robert Guerrero and Saul Canelo Alvarez this year.

"Manny moved when he wanted to, touched him when he wanted to, and Manny was doing everything," Floyd Sr. said. "Manny was giving him side angles, cracking him," Mayweather Sr. said during an interview with Pro Boxing Insider.

"This guy (Rios) never did really hit. He never really hit Manny with anything. Manny was slipping and sliding," Floyd Sr. said. "Manny was looking like Floyd! Anny was looking like the way Floyd looked over (Saul) Alvarez and (Robert) Guerrero," he added.

Despite his sweet words for Pacquiao, Mayweather Sr. thinks Pacquiao's win over an overmatched Rios would be not enough to book a match with his son.

Juan Manuel Marquez, who knocked out Pacquiao in the sixth round of their fourth clash last year, was critical of his rival's victory, insisting Pacman only looked good because he was matched against a slower, handpicked opponent in Rios.

"It was important for Manny Pacquiao to look good, so they gave him an opponent like Brandon Rios for his return and he looked impressive. I believe that Bob Arum is doing his job in getting him these types of opponents," Marquez said in Boxing Scene via ABS -CBN News.

More Dangerous Pacquiao

With Marquez unwilling to accept Pacquiao another rematch, Top-Rank promoter Bob Arum is looking to pit the Filipino fighting congressman against Timothy Bradley or Mayweather next year.

Obviously, there's no bigger fight to make in boxing than the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather dream match, which would settle who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

According to Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach, Pacman would overwhelm Mayweather with his speed and agility should the match between the two boxing icons happen. On the other hand, veteran boxing pundit Ed Sarmienta thinks Pacquiao will knockout the Grand Rapids native cold.

Breaking Down the Fight

In the battle between two of the most agile and fastest boxers in the world, Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is going to be a virtual chess match loaded with actions and fireworks in almost every round.

Mayweather, gifted with quickness and peerless boxing skills, will be too elusive for Pacquiao in the earlier rounds. However, with legs starting to get really heavy in the middle rounds, expect Pacquiao's fiery style of boxing to catch up Mayweather along the ropes.

Despite his flawless performance against Guerrero and Alvarez this year, Mayweather isn't anymore the fighter he was five years ago. This is also applicable to Pacquiao, who hasn't knocked out a fighter since Miguel Cotto. However, with the kind of performance he has showed recently, Pacman can really pull it off and stun Mayweather.

With age starting to catch up Money May, his chin will be vulnerable than ever. Pacquiao's one-punch power might not be enough to score a flash knockout against Mayweather, but the rapid fire combination of power shots would be too much for him to absorb. Pacquiao will win this one via stoppage in eight rounds.
